The inauguration of the Funchal harbor terminal has taken place today on the building itself by the hand of the regional president Dr. Alberto João Jardim. The news available from RTP-Madeira points an estimate of 500 000 (500 thousand) passengers a year. However the utilization of the building is not an obligation for the turists that visit us on their cruises. For the local population the harbor will be available to visit, however it will be restrited to certain days and conditions. This project, which is of the authorship of the architect Geraldes Pinto, has cost around 13 million €.

Today by around 8 a.m. arrived to the Funchal harbor the cruise ship Ocean Princess with not much more than 600 passengers. This ship left the harbor punctually at 17 p.m.

As far as I know, the Diário de Noticias da Madeira published the news of the inauguration of the Funchal harbor International Terminal of Passengers, which will take place at May 31 ergo next Monday around 18h. However this will take place one month later than I’ve told you later on April 4.

I hope I’d be able to bring more details as soon possible.

Taking what was said on Diário Cidade the MSC Cruises presented two new touristic rotes with departure and arrival to the Funchal harbor for the arriving year of 2011. It’s foreseen to be a total of 8 cruises split by two circuits.

1. One of them of 10 days with departure from Funchal sailing to Málaga, Civitavecchia, Barcelona and Gibraltar heading then back to Funchal. The departures are programmed to 13 of January, 4 and 26 of February and 20 of March.
2. The second one of 14 days, also with departure from Funchal sails out to Santa Cruz, Arrecife, Málaga, Civitacecchia, Génova, Barcelona and Casablanca returning to Funchal while visiting Canárias. This circuit expects to have beginning at 22 of January, 13 of February, 7 and 29 of March.

So we can say that the first trimester of next year counts with the presence of the magnificent MSC Cruises.

At may 24 of this year the Celebrity Eclipse arrived for the first time to the Funchal harbor and by itself in the harbor it brought live to the city. However I only can show you one photo of the ship leaving to Tenerife.

A busy day on Funchal harbor it was this Saturday with three ships the Asuka II, the Westerdam and the Costa Mediterrânea. However this was a problem since the Asuka II and the Costa Mediterrânea filled up the harbour and the Weterdam had to stay on the bay.

Back on Funchal harbour arrived in the morning the english ship Oriana. It’s passengers had the privilege to assist to a extraordinary sunrise with the Funchal city as background. Here I show a photo made by me at the middle of the morning.

As embarcações Arun chegadas à Região Autónoma da Madeira já somam alguns anos, permaneceram muito tempo em doca seca na zona do Caniçal segundo pude averiguar por causa da sua tipologia não estar prevista na legislação portuguesa colocando-as em situação “ilegal”. Hoje encontravam-se sob o aeroporto  internacional  da Madeira, uma em doca seca outra na água. Encontrando-se esta aparentemente completamente reabilitada, e a docada a sofrer os mesmo trabalhos. Contudo achei curioso não ser legível qualquer identificação nas respectivas amuradas das duas embarcações. Não posso deixar de perguntar a quem me poder esclarecer afinal o que se passa naquele pequeno porto de abrigo ( caís ) por baixo do aeroporto internacional da Madeira? Existem motas de água identificadas como dos sanas, embarcações da ANAM e estas duas Arun, fora as diversas embarcações de recreio docadas nas proximidades.

Aparentemente funciona ali um estaleiro de reparação naval, alguém sabe com que nome?

E a situação dos Arun? Legalizados em operação pelos SANAS ou ANAM? E porque não exibem identificação?

Por baixo do aeroporto internacional da madeira encontram-se os meios de pronto-socorro  do mesmo para a eventualidade de uma amaragem ou despenhamento de alguma aeronave no mar. É possível visualizar a antiga embarcação da ANAM cujo nome não me recordo e uma “rampa” de lançamento equipada com três lanchas semi-rigidas.

A procissão vai longa.

É verdade os submarinos alemãs e os patrulhas oceânicos em construção nos E.N.V.C. ainda não foram entregues após tanta polémica gerada, contudo nos últimos dias duas novas noticias serpentearam algumas agências noticiosas numa das quais se pôde ler que pelas palavras do próprio ministro da defesa que o primeiro submarino ( U209 )  baptizado de Arpão será entregue a 23 de maio deste ano, isto é em cima da celebração do dia da marinha.

Curiosamente outra noticia avança a entrega do primeiro NPO ( navio de patrulha oceânica ) para o mesmo dia.

Seria boa noticia não fosse que duvido da veracidade destes “factos” esperemos para ver.

No primeiro deste mês, dia do trabalhador, o porto do Funchal voltou a receber a visita do navio de passageiros Grand Voyager. Acerca deste navio existe uma particularidade pois este encontra-se registado no Registo Internacional de Navios da Madeira.

Este magnífico cruzeiro à vela visitou o porto do Funchal no passado dia 27 terça-feira pelo amanhecer. Uma visão deslumbrante de facto no enriquecido cenário da baía da capital Madeirense. Proveniente de Oeste deparou-se com o nascer do sol de frente algo que concerteza agradou aos passageiros.
